Cold usually refers to a subjective state of relatively low temperatures, whereas higher temperatures are generally called "heat".
In everyday language the notions "cold" or "heat" are often confused with the internal energy of a system, which then, however, would constitute a variable of state, or even with temperature, i.e. "cold" is generally referred to as low temperature, while in refrigeration engineering "cooling capacity" refers to a heat flow.
In engineering, "cold" may actually mean process parameter "heat" (depending on the temperature level).
